Pulleys

Block And Tackle A pulley system consisting of a block that contains one or more pulleys and a tackle that is attached to the load being lifted.
Compound Pulley A pulley system that combines both fixed and movable pulleys to provide a greater mechanical advantage.
Fixed Pulley A type of pulley that only changes the direction of the force applied.
Load The weight or force that is being lifted or lowered by a pulley system.
Mechanical Advantage The ratio of the force produced by a machine to the force applied to it, often increased by using pulleys.
Movable Pulley A type of pulley that moves along with the load being lifted, providing a mechanical advantage.
Pulley A wheel with a grooved rim around which a cord passes, used to change the direction or point of application of a force applied to the cord.
Pulley System An assembly of one or more pulleys and ropes or chains used to lift or move loads.
Tackle An arrangement of pulleys used for mechanical advantage in lifting or pulling loads.
